If you have landed at this site, there is a good chance you are friend or family and curious to check out how things are going with my adventure into full-time cruising. If you have stumbled upon my blog, welcome! Here is a brief background on what and why.
I have always dreamed of sailing around the world and exploring all the fantastic places that it has to offer. Last year, I realized that in order for me to actually live my dream, it was going to require jumping in with both feet. I got serious about researching boats, destinations, and the logistics of living on a boat full time. The biggest issue long term was going to be cash-flow, but that is a topic for another time.
In March, I found the boat that I wanted and after a full survey and sea-trail, I became the proud owner of S/V Nefertari!!
Nefertari is a 1982 Whitby 42 built in Ontario Canada. She is hull #183 of about 300 that were built. She is a 42 foot, stay-sail rigged, center cockpit ketch with a modified full keel and 875 sq feet of sail area.
Nefertari is currently located in Charleston, SC and I am currently in the process of selling my house in WA State so that I can move aboard full time. I have a few projects to complete as well as equipment I still need prior to launching, but my current plan is to move aboard Nov 1 and head South toward the Bahamas the first week of December.
