Wednesday, 12/19: I left the Cape Marina just before noon and made my way through the first bascule bridge and locks on my way east. I was a little worried about the locks but turns out they were quite easy as the water level difference was less than a foot from what I could tell.
The rest of the afternoon was pretty calm and blissful; I made my way to the ICW and started heading South. Since I had gotten a little bit later start than I anticipated, I ended up anchoring just North of the 518 causeway, up a bit from Melbourne. Easy anchoring in 12 feet of water and although the wind was expected to pick up, it never really did so I got a great night’s sleep even though I woke up 4-5 times in the night to check the anchor, etc. (First night at anchor in boat).
